We met through online dating after my best friend recommended back in 2012. We had our first date in a little village called Corbridge in Northumberland and hit it off straight away. I then moved over to Allendale where Andrew is from.
In 2018 Andrew purposed, via placing a large box under the Christmas tree - on opening my present, the boxes got smaller and smaller like a little Russian doll and then an engagement ring appeared. It had to be one of the best surprise Christmas present I ever received, and a Christmas I wouldn’t forget.
The planning went well to start with, and I was very organised. We had everything booked and sorted well in advanced. However, then the pandemic started, and we made the decision to postpone the wedding. Plus, Andrew and I were both key workers and we worked all the way through the pandemic.
Then the Venue we originally booked were taken over by a new company and unfortunately, they could no longer offer us what we originally signed up to therefore had to find a new venue. But in a way this was a blessing as Langley Castle was amazing and perfect for a fairy tale wedding!
When I was looking for my dream wedding dress, I just went to only shop, Armstrong Bridal in Haltwhistle. I originally phoned up and told them about the Celestina, the owner of the shop got in touch with the Rep and a sample was sent to the shop. However, in the meantime I went to try on about 3 wedding dresses at Armstrong’s but knew until that dress came in, I couldn’t think of any other dress. Celestina was perfect and beautiful. It made me feel like a floral princess The look of it, the colour, the 3D flowers that which decorated the whole dress were all amazing and the dusty pink hue made the dress feel even more magical.
Literally putting it on I felt amazing! I absolutely fell in love with everything about the dress and knew that was the dress for me. The netting and tulle, with blush/claret/navy/ivory, made it a modern yet traditional style. I loved the ballgown with a v back and sweetheart neckline. Plus, it gave me a great waist and silhouette. I felt confident and beautiful. To put it simply, I fell in love with the dress and knew I would wear it for my wedding.
The day was perfect. Everything went to plan, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Our dog Amber was there with us the whole day, which was amazing, don’t think we could have had the wedding without her. Plus, Andrew works for the Fire Service, and the Fire Engine made an appearance from Allendale Fire and Rescue which was great fun, and defiantly made our wedding stand out from the crowd.
My little bit of advice for future brides would have to be that, if you fancy going for something a little bit more out there got for it. It’s the only day you can do it!
